So I've noticed in the last month that a bunch of people I've talked to have been spoiled on Shin Megami Tensei 4:Apocalypse because someone decided to either talk about it or post pictures of major plot twists without much thought. This is baffling to me considering these are the same people that begged not to spoil Persona 5. So why the fuck is spoiling one game okay but not the other? I mean its most likely because since they don't care about spoilers for Apocalypse, other people won't care either. While I'm also in a similar boat (in that I don't care for Apocalypse spoilers compared to Persona 5),that doesn't mean I'm gonna hurt that experience for other people.
Honestly, I'm kinda shocked that I'm even writing about this in the first place, you'd think it would be common sense not to spoil things that recently came out, BUT I GUESS NOT.
I personally fall in the group that experiencing a piece of media is about both the journey and the destination, while getting spoiled on a big twist might not ruin the whole thing,it really changes the perspective and usually not in a good way(or at the very least its something I would want to see on a 2nd go). Like,if I'm playing a game where a good guy turns out to be the villain at the end, and I got spoiled on that, that would change how I view that character. Everything they say or do would make me think, "Oh shit, that's how they're covering up their tracks" and that's something that I would want to experience on my 2nd playthrough or something. Or in Persona 3, if someone found out that Shinjiro died partway through the game, and that no one would replace him, they might not want to use him because the EXP and equipment you get for him would be a waste.
I feel like I had more to say on this but Dark Souls 3 DLC got in the way of me finishing this so I'll have to end it here, maybe I'll come back to this topic some other time (probably not).
